Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m)

Image result for BSAC Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m)

BSAC’s Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) course is a great way to take your rebreather diving to the next stage.

You will increase your awareness and safety, using a trimix diluent to minimise the undesirable effects of narcosis and increased gas density seen in deeper nitrox diving.

This was a great way to incorporate the safe use of mixed gas into my rebreather diving. The course is packed with technical information but is delivered in an accessible way that has positively impacted on my diving and enjoyment of deeper wreck sites.

- Fran Hockley, Cardigan SAC

The Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) course is the first step in mixed-gas diving for competent air-diluent rebreather divers. It will introduce you to using a 20/30 trimix diluent.

To enrol on the Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) course you must have already successfully completed a BSAC CCR Diver (40m)course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency). You must be at least 18 years old and be able to demonstrate high proficiency diving a rebreather, with 60 logged dives.

Your next steps – developing your skills

After completing Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) and consolidating your skills, your options for deeper CCR diving significantly expands.

  • You can develop your closed-circuit deeper diving skills to 60m as an Explorer Mixed Gas CCR Diver (60m).
  • You could develop specific skills to expand your diving interests further, including technical and logistical courses such as Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m), Compressor Operation and Mixed Gas Blender. Check out the Skill Development Courses (SDCs) you can get involved in.
  • You could sign up for BSAC’s Instructor Foundation Course (IFC) to become an Assistant Diving Instructor.
  • Already an Open Water Instructor, or above? You could hone your skills to become a Technical Instructor and join your regional team.
