ABOUT US
ProTec, short for Professional Technical and Recreational Diving, is a global training and certification organization catering to beginners, recreational divers, and dive professionals. We work together with dive instructors and dive centres promoting responsible, sustainable diving among all levels of diving business like Cave Diving Thailand,Tech Sidemount, Tec Deep Diver & Rebreather Diver .
ProTec roots lay back in the early eighties, when the founders of ProTec, among some enthusiastic deep and mixed gas divers in Austria and Switzerland, set up their way to dive beyond the sport diving limits with new rules and training to achieve maximum safety for this extreme sport at at suitable sites for open water dives and at suitable sites for overhead dives.
The journey of ProTec began as a club initiative, which later expanded to international collaboration with various technical diving organizations. In 1997, the name and logo were revamped as part of a reorganization aimed at facilitating global operations. Initially focused exclusively on technical diving, ProTec became the first technical diving organization to incorporate recreational diving into its program. This addition was met with widespread approval and marked the start of its success.
At the heart of ProTec lies its board of directors and founding members, operating as a non-profit entity. This board delegates tasks and grants rights to international partners—commercial organizations authorized to handle operational duties. Although established primarily as a technical diving organization, recreational diving was introduced within just two years, enhancing the program and achieving immediate success.
ProTec's expansion included partnerships with international diving organizations. Notably, in 2005, ProTec joined CMAS as an international federation, aligning closely with CMAS standards. Today, ProTec offers a CMAS-compliant course program alongside its globally recognized OWD/AOWD programs.

Tech Diving Thailand is run by David Polley, David-Tech Diving Thailand, an avid cave explorer, Recreational, Technical, diving leaders for diving within your diving limits, Tech Sidemount, Deco Procedures, Decompression procedures, Wreck with deep wreck penetrations at awe-inducing wrecks at deeper ship wrecks and Cave Instructor for ProTec (Professional Technical & Recreational Diving) & NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) and Recreational and Technical instructor for BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club), who is dedicated to running high-level technical diving courses and tech expeditions around Thailand so you get to explore all the diving locations in Koh Tao or diving locations in Southern Thailand for Cave Diving Courses and Tec Trimix to Advanced Trimix Courses to 100m. And we are Primarily based in Koh Tao, Thailand. At Tech Diving Thailand we also have a dedicated team of technical diving instructors, running very high standard technical diving courses, such as CCR diving and cave/wreck expeditions from dive resorts, that are based primarily in Koh Tao (Divers Island) but can arrange other instructors in Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Chang and Koh Lipe.

As Koh Tao's only CCR (Closed Circuit Rebreather) training center, we take pride in offering comprehensive CCR programs. Led by our in-house CCR instructor, David Polley, we provide access to a dedicated CCR workshop equipped with sorb, cells, and gas boosters, ensuring you have all the resources needed for advanced diving.

Tech Diving Thailand's dive center we have backpackers accommodation from 250 thb in a shared hostel to-suit all budgets and tastes. Or just 600thb a night for individual bungalows or guesthouses. And nearby there is a swimming pool and the beach is very close to the shop.
The Tech Diving Thailand Recreational/Technical Diving Department also has a well-stocked tech diving shop offering: Halcyon, DUI, Scubapro, Apeks, Mares, Hollis, X-Deep Tech Sidemount, Light Monkey and Diverite technical diving equipment for sale.
Technical Diving Expeditions
At Koh Tao Tec Divers for ProTec regularly hunt for new wrecks in the Gulf of Thailand and further afield into the straits of Malacca and the South China Sea. Explore the Gulf of Thailand's rich history with our numerous WWII wrecks, including submarines and Japanese Marus (merchant ships). Check out our schedule for upcoming trips and dates! Additionally, we run regular cave diving expeditions in southern Thailand, searching for and mapping new cave systems, sinkholes, and underground wonders. After completing your cave diving course, join our research group and become part of the exciting discovery of Thailand's hidden caves.
